Sonic Van Goghby ~the-lest

Someone on Tumblr challenged me to imitate the style of Van Gogh, so I drew Sonic. I don't think I pulled it off but I still quite like the way this looks!

I thought this was done in pastels at first! The brights are so bright and the shadows are so dark... and his face is just perfect! That smile. OMG. That smile. The light effect on the ring is awesome, too! It really looks shiny!

Interesting coloring technique! I love how you used all of the cool colors as shadings by mixing blue and purple and adding some green as highlights. I think you pulled that off rather nicely~
In a way it does look like Van Gogh's coloring style, especially the sky and colors

Great job!

The thing I would consider fixing in the future would probably be Sonic's right cheek.
The left part of Sonic's muzzle looks fine, though his right cheek appears to be too straight compared to the left. Though I think it's very minor, I still think you've done a great job. Keep it up ^^

Thank you! And oops, you are right, I didn't even notice that mistake.

Also, his eyes are a bit off-centre, so he looks like he has a lazy-eye.

I actually have real difficulty drawing Sonic, I don't know why. I used to draw his classic look when I was a kid, but since they changed him, I find it really hard to get him right. I used a screenshot for a reference here, but it was still tricky.
