If you start reading this please read it all so you don't get the wrong idea....

If you think that something is cool, awesome, or amazing, there is no shame in saying so. I like critique and constructive comments, but I don't want people to spend a long time writing a critique unless they want to. I know I have been complaining a lot lately about things like comments and favs, but the point of this entry is more about me trying to make sure that you people watching me don't feel under pressure. I don't want you to feel pressured to write an essay whenever you comment on my work.

Most of us probably hate those one-line "cool!"/"awesome!" comments, but you can say that you think something is cool or awesome, and still help the artist out by including a line or two of text saying what you like about a picture. For example: "this looks really amazing, i like how vibrant the colours are and how the redness in the eyes really stands out", or "this is awesome, the style puts me in a mellow mood because of the pastal type colours and the soft look of the line art." Something like that.

I don't think that people should feel pressured to critique when they really don't feel like it, because there is a danger that in trying to look for errors, you will see problems that aren't really there, or you will find yourself looking too hard at a picture until you no longer really appreciate or enjoy the picture anymore. What i want in a comment is this: your initial reaction. I appreciate those who take the time to describe their initial reaction and why they feel that way, like in the examples above. But I don't want you to spend hours studying a picture so that you can write an in-depth comment (unless you actually WANT to critique). I just wanna know what you think of the picture at its basic face value. A picture is a picture after all - it is the first response that is important. At least, that's what's important to me. :)
